Sad breaking news indeed. Although it is not confirmed yet, it seems the word is already out that the singer has died this 2009 of heart attack.

I remember watching his VCDs back in high school several times before finally telling myself I’m already addicted to Michael Jackson.

Let’s all mourn music fans. I hope his burial/wake becomes available to the public and be put on streaming live video over the Internet.

The race will be broadcasted live by ABC, and most people will probably be tuning in to the race this way considering the AH1NI virus scare in New York (Is it safe to attend the race? There are no advice from Health Authorities against doing so.) For those who would like to watch it on live streaming video, www.ESPN360.com will also be bringing to us the Belmont Stakes’ live online feed. I didn’t have much luck in watching the two previous races using online means before, but hopefully this ESPN360 broadcast will turn out OK. The 2nd installment of the yearly Triple Crown is here, with the Preakness Stakes 2009 held at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland tuning up this Saturday, May 16, 2009. I’ve covered the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago and watched in awe as 50:1 Mine That Bird pulled from behind and won the said race. If you want to know how to watch this on live video, you should check out my post for the Kentucky Derby 2009. In a nutshell, television carrier might post the streaming video of the 134th Preakness on their website, but I wouldn’t bet on it. Better get it first hand on TV. The scheduled start time of the race is at 6:15 PM EST, and the video replay will be available on Youtube minutes after. Subscribe here to get the updates.

I picked Pioneer of the Nile in the previous race and it’s still my horse. Mine That Bird would also be a favorite now, and I wouldn’t mind seeing a Triple Crown winner this year. I forgot to mention that Knetucky Oaks winner, filly Rachel Alexandra, is the favorite to win this race, although she didn’t join Kentucky because the team didn’t want Rachel to run with the males. Don’t know what made them change their mind though.

The schedule didn’t look bad a while back, but with the outbreak of Swine Flu and some Mexicans being ticket holders, I won’t be so sure with the gate count at the MGM Grand. Without a doubt though, millions of people will be watching at home and on PPV. Hatton vs Pacquiao is the most intriguing and perhaps the true 50/50 fight of the year which all fans love (and both fighters probably have the same number of fans). Even a greater number will be those who will be watching using the Internet, whether it be the live coverage by HBO or streamed by other websites online.

My prediction for the winner of course goes to the Filipino. Why you ask? Manny is so much faster and quicker than Ricky Hatton. The result is that Hatton won’t be able to keep up with Pacquiao. It may be true that the Hitman’s punches carry a lot more power than the Pacman’s, but it really wouldn’t matter if those power punches don’t hit the target. To make matters worse for Hatton, Pacquiao’s punches can also knock him out. Who says Manny won’t have the same power in the higher weights? Look at Dela Hoya’s face at the end of their fight. It was pretty much rearranged.

The schedule of the fight is on May 2, and the exact time it starts on live broadcast is 9PM. This would be the undercards though, and the real Hatton vs Pacquiao fight will be a little later than that, maybe 11PM. Don’t hold your breath too long as the undercards promise to be real quick with serveral mismatches.

The race for the elusive Triple Crown starts with the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the (Churchill Downs) Louiseville, Kentucky with the best 3 year old thoroughbred horses from around the US competing. The race will be broadcasted live by NBC in the US (time and schedule to follow) and shown around the world through live streaming video by NBC. The free live streaming video of the 135th Kentucky Derby may also be available through video streams by users of justin.tv and ustream.tv. Be sure to check them out.

My prediction for the winner is based on which ones were picked high by bettors, and then choose the name of the horse I liked the most. Pioneer of the Nile stood out and gave me the impression it’s going to be the first horse to cross the finish line. The Kenutcky Derby 2009, also called the Most Exciting 2 Minutes in Sports, is the first of three races comprising the Triple Crown. The Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes 2009 will immediately follow this race, and the hope of every thoroughbred racer is to finish first in all three. The last time this happened was in 1978, and hopefully, the Triple Crown will belong to a horse this year.

Western Conference
Los Angeles Lakers vs Utah Jazz (LA leads 2-1)
Kobe is doing the ball-hogging and it didn’t spell them good in Game 3, when he shot less than 25% from the field. I think the Lakers will pull through anyway, it’s just that the Jazz are really tough on their home court.
Denver Nuggets vs New Orleans Hornets (Nuggets lead 2-0)
Chris Paul and David West has no answer for Chauncey Billups, Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, Nene, etc. you get my point. This one will be a landslide and Billups will push Denver to the 2nd round, perhaps even the Conference Finals.
San Antonio Spurs vs Dallas Mavericks (Mavs lead 2-1)
The San Antonio old men are being carried by Tony Parker on his shoulders and they’re proving too heavy for the young point guard. Manu Ginobili is injured, Tim Duncan is nursing a faulty knee, and the rest of the Spurs can be called just that. Meanwhile, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs have donned their playoff attire and is a favorite to face the Lakers in the C Finals as well.
Portland Trailblazers vs Houston Rockets (Series Tied 1-1)
Yao Ming seems to be the key to this series and the Tblazers found a way to stop him in the 2nd game, and Roy found his groove yet again. I honestly don’t know which team is going to win but I am picking the Rockets because they are an older team and they probably wouldn’t have a chance anymore.

Eastern Conference
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons (Cavs lead 2-0)
This series can be summed up in one word - Lebron James.
Boston Celtics vs Chicago Bulls (Celtics lead 2-1)
Now this is the most interesting series. A young team versus the Champions. Secretly you want the Celtics to lose because of their character and swagger (Pierce says they’re very confident in this series), but inevitably, experience and hustle in rebounding (which the Bulls don’t have except Noah) will prevail and the Celtics may win the series in Game 6. Hopefully the Bulls push through.
Orlando Magic vs Philadelphia 76ers (Series Tied 1-1)
Another heavy and pretty even match-up with the Sixers showing resiliency with Andre Miller and Andre Iguodala. Superman Dwight Howard is on the other side though and is always ready to give that 20 Point - 20 Rebound game. Again another puzzle in the playoffs.
Atlanta Hawks vs Miami Heat (Series Tied 1-1)
It’s tough to beat the Hawks on their homecourt (Boston lost all 3 games there last year) and the Heat managed to do it in Game 2, giving them the advantage. Every Josh Smith and alleyoop dunk ricks the house down and I personally think that this is all they have to prevent if the Heat hopes to win there. Dwayne Wade went out of the mudhole from the first game and gave an MVP performance in the 2nd game, winning it for the Heat. I hope the Heat bench and supporting cast gives their all for the cause.

The Most Valuable Player Award (MVP Trophy) goes to Lebron James without question or other considerations.

Now, we don’t have cable here, and we only get to watch the playoffs one game-a-day during the weekends, so we are forced to watch on the Internet via live streaming video. For those who would like to know how tho watch the Playoffs and even the NBA Finals online, here are your options. Please note that this list includes “watching it” through the radio.

1. Go to Yahoo Sports! NBA. There you will find the live scores and the play-by-play of the game. Right beside every Box Score, Yahoo Sports! gives you a link to an online streaming radio of one of the teams. Couple this with the play-by-play box score and your imagination and you’ll get a pretty good feel of the game. The advantage of course is that there is no lag and a dial-up connection would suffice.

2. Go to www.nba.com. NBA offers Audio League Pass, and you just have to sign-up as a member for free. There you will be given two audio streaming sites per game (one per team) and you can also couple this with the live box score.

3. Go to TNT or ESPN website. Sometimes, these TV networks stream the games online with an additional perk— the user gets to choose to watch a player up close. This didn’t always worked for me though because watching it on TNT and ESPN requires a ginormous amount of bandwidth and Internet connection speed, both of which we don’t have.

4. Use SopCast (search on Google). SopCast enables users to stream and watch TV shows online, provided someone will put up a server for the show. Server settings are usually found in chat rooms and forums.

5. Visit free live video streaming websites like justin.tv and ustream.tv. Before, most of the games are taken down due to copyright issues, but for some reason, some games (like the Jazz-Lakers game yesterday) was broadcast in full widescreen glory. How about that? Just go to the Sports section and most of the time the live working games are the ones with the highest number of viewers.

6. Go to NBA’s account on Youtube, where they give you daily highlights, replays and the NBA Top Ten Plays. This is as close as possible to watching the games live.

How To Watch UFC 96 Live
Listed below are the few ways on where and how you can catch the event live.
1) Go to Yahoo Sports!, click on MMA, and they will be showing the preliminary bouts live for free. In order to watch the Main Event though, you will have to shell out $44.95 to get live streaming video in High Definition and fight archive viewing for 24 hours.
2) Contact your cable operator and get the Pay-Per-View fight. Be sure to invite your friends over so that you can share the cost.
3) In some countries like the Philippines, the fight will be shown for free in some channels, like Balls. The telecast is a little bit delayed, but it doesn’t matter because it is free.
4) Go to TV streaming site like justin.tv and mogulus. Sometimes, a lucky soul will be able to stream the fights live without the website taking their feeds down. Try your luck. I highly discourage this though because such streamed fights are low quality and always buffering. ANd you don’t really support UFC if you watch it for free.
5) Use Video streaming software like SopCast, all you have to do is to find the server setting and ports of the streamer via links on forums and the Internet.
6) Wait for the highlights on Youtube. I know this doesn’t count as watching it live, but sometimes, patience can give you a better experience of watching.

I then learned what’s with this day. In American cities with a large Irish population, St. Patrick’s Day is a very big deal. Big cities and small towns alike celebrate with parades, “wearing of the green,” music and songs, Irish food and drink, and activities for kids such as crafts, coloring and games. Its a time for fun..or have a pint o’ the dark stuff. Some communities even go so far as to dye rivers or streams green! HBO will carry the broadcasting rights and TV coverage of this “World Championship Boxing” event, and I think the the time/schedule starts at 10:00 PM ET. If you are still wondering how to watch this live on streaming video, just turn on your TV and stay glued to HBO for the remainder of the fight. They will have the weigh-in footage and video this evening, and I’m pretty sure all fighters will make weight. The video for Juan Manuel Marquez vs Juan Diaz (especially the highlights) will be available on Youtube minutes after the fight as well as the Chris John versus Rocky Juarez video.
