Jermain Taylor, winner of two championship bouts against Bernard Hopkins, but who lost twice to current middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik, hopes to get some rhythm going by defeating Jeff Lacy tonight at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee, for the right to challenge the Super Middleweight champion. The fight will be covered and broadcasted by HBO Boxing Sports. Free live streaming video of the Taylor vs Lacy fight may also be available on the Internet. Watch out for that.
Here are the undercards before the main event, taken as excerpt from Secondsout.com.
Fans will want to get to Memorial Gymnasium early on November 15 to catch a stacked nine-bout “All Or Nothing” undercard. In the 12-round co-feature, former IBF welterweight world champion Kermit Cintron (29-2, 27 KOs) takes on former IBF junior welterweight king Lovemore N’dou (46-10-1, 31 KOs) in a crucial 147 pound elimination bout.
“Both of these former world champions present a serious threat to each other in a ‘must win’ IBF eliminator. Cintron possesses the most devastating one-punch knockout power in the welterweight division, but N’dou has never been stopped and has the type of veteran experience that Kermit must prove he can overcome,” said DBE president Lou DiBella.
In a ten-round heavyweight bout, Philadelphia’s Chazz Witherspoon (23-1, 15 KOs) looks to bounce back from a disappointing DQ loss to world-rated Chris Arreola, and will have his hands full against Smyrna, TN’s own Adam Richards (21-1, 14 KOs), who hasn’t lost since 2001.
Light heavyweight Shaun George (17-2-2, 8 KOs) will make his first appearance since shocking the boxing world this past May when he dismantled former two-time heavyweight champion Chris Byrd via TKO in Las Vegas. George takes on Donnell Wiggins (24-11-4, 14 KOs) from Covington, TN, over ten rounds.
WBO #1 rated featherweight Monty Meza-Clay (28-1, 19 KOs) will be in eight-round action as he gears up for a crack at world champion Steve Luevano.
“Where are you going to see an undercard that boasts a welterweight elimination bout, two established heavyweights risking their once-beaten records, the mandatory contender for the featherweight world championship and the WBC #7 rated light heavyweight coming off the biggest win of his career? You can only see it at Vanderbilt University on November 15. And there’s more!” exclaimed DiBella.

Also on the show, ultra-talented southpaw middleweight Fernando Guererro (10-0, 9 KOs), fresh off a high-profile ShoBox victory on October 3, takes on Gevonte Davis (3-1-1, 2 KOs) over six rounds; Jonathan Nelson (6-0, 3 KOs), nephew of Jermain Taylor’s trainer Ozell Nelson, battles Cory Jones (3-2-1, 1 KO) in six-round super middleweight action; undefeated lightweight and Crossville, TN’s Chris Howard (9-0, 4 KOs) faces Tyrone Wiggins from Memphis; and lightweight ladies Mandy Sherrow, from Nashville, versus Columbia, SC’s Lisa Bolin.
As a special attraction, heavyweight Deontay Wilder, the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, will make his pro debut. The 6’7” Wilder also won the National Golden Gloves and United States championships in 2007.
I’ll be posting the updates and the results on the winners after I have watched the fights myself, or after it is announced on Yahoo Sports. Right now, I am more inclined to watch Randy Couture vs Brock Lesnar fight for UFC 91.
