Bernard Hopkins, winner of previous fights against Oscar Dela Hoya and Wrinky Wright, and dubbed “The Executioner,” will face the British Hall-of-Famer-bound Joe Calzaghe in a Light Heavyweight Title fight on Saturday, April 19, 2008 (Sunday April 20 in the Philippines) at the Thomas & Mack Center inside the UNLV campus. Although ticket sales at Planet Hollywood are dismal and a lot of front-row seats are not yet sold, many boxing analysts believe that this fight is one of the best fights to be held this year.

Here’s a video premiere by HBO on the highlights of Bernard Hopkins’ career.

This match, as I would call it, is a battle of the old, with Bernard Hopkins 43 and Joe Calzaghe 36. Hopkins will also be fighting with Freddie Roach, trainer of Manny Pacquiao, at his side. For this fight, Bernard Hopkins hired quite a dozen of familiar and successful boxing figures, from sparmates to cutman to strategist, to help him. He is going to need all of them.
